Volume 5, No. 3, Art. 6 September 2004Expanding the Action Repertoire of SocietiesHans-Georg Soeffner in Conversation With Jo ReichertzAbstract: In the interview Hans Georg SOEFFNER explains the roots of Hermeneutic Sociology of Knowledge. He emphasizes that this approach of the hermeneutics is not a method in the narrow sense of the word, but primarily a theory and methodology. The validity of the interpretations is guaranteed by the method of "Sequenzanalyse" (sequence analysis) and the interpretation of the results of the analysis in research groups. Hermeneutic Sociology of Knowledge isn't an arm-chair sociology but is an analytical sociology and its aim is to reconstruct or to design options so that the action repertoire of a society is expanded. Key words: hermeneutic sociology of knowledge, responsibility of science, hermeneutic as a theory and methodology, validity of interpretative procedures This contribution is only available as a full text in the German language.
