The book "Curiosity-driven Disciplines. The Professional Habitus in Empirical Research" by Andreas FRANZMANN examines the professionalization of science and its influence on research practices. The empirical section presents scientists' commitment and their inclination towards dynamic and high-risk research. The investigation, however, is restricted to the perspectives of scientists conducting basic research in autonomous research settings. Further research is needed to analyze professionalization's characteristics on the interface between science, politics, and economy.
