This article has two aims: it is intended to introduce the new field of research of qualitative online inquiries on the one hand, and to report on the results of a conference on this topic on the other. Since to date there has been a lack of methodological reflections and practical research guidelines on the subject of qualitative online inquiries, the challenge in this field is to identify the specifics of online communication and its benefits and implications for qualitative social research, as well as to begin the delimitation and professionalization of qualitative online inquiries. Thus, this two-day event can be understood as an "exploration" towards developing this methodological field in its complexity and to define it to non-specific (quantitative or non-interpretive) interests.
