Abstract

Jörg BERGMANN and Christian MEYER can be counted among the most prominent representatives of ethnomethodology and conversation analysis in Germany. In this interview, they reconstruct their theoretical turn towards ethnomethodology and discuss its historical success in Germany and the US. They address questions about the theoretical foundations and understandings of ethnomethodology as well as its analytic application and teaching possibilities. In addition, they trace the paths and detours of the reception of Harold GARFINKEL's ethnomethodology in West Germany, and offer access to the theoretical depth and challenges of this strand of sociology.

Christian MEYER, geb. 1971, Studium der Ethnologie, Soziologie und Linguistik in Heidelberg, Montpellier und Mainz. 2003 Promotion an der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz. 2011 Habilitation an der Universität Bielefeld. 2008 bis 2014 Vertretungsprofessuren an den Universitäten Bielefeld, Halle-Wittenberg und Siegen sowie Senior-Fellowship am Centre for Global Cooperation Research in Duisburg. 2014 Berufung zum Professor für Kommunikationswissenschaft an der Universität Duisburg-Essen und 2015 zum Professor für spezielle Soziologie und qualitative Methoden der empirischen Sozialforschung an die Julius-Maximilians-Universität in Würzburg. Seit 2016 Inhaber der Professur für allgemeine Soziologie und Kultursoziologie an der Universität Konstanz. Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen im Bereich der Kultursoziologie, Sozialtheorie, Interaktionssoziologie und den qualitativen Methoden.

René Salomon, University of Würzburg

René SALOMON, geb. 1976, wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Lehrstuhl für allgemeine Soziologie an der Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg. Forschungsschwerpunkte: Praxis- und Systemtheorie, qualitative Methodologie, Wissenssoziologie und Gesellschaftstheorie.

Hannes Krämer, University Duisburg-Essen

Hannes KRÄMER, geb. 1980 in Weimar, studierte Kommunikationswissenschaft und Sozialwissenschaften an den Universitäten Duisburg-Essen, Maynooth (Irland) und Bern (Schweiz). Er arbeitete als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Exzellenzcluster 16 der Universität Konstanz. 2013 hat er mit einer Dissertation über Kreativarbeit an der Kulturwissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Europa-Universität Viadrina promoviert. Von 2014-2016 leitete er das Forschungsprojekt "Temporale Grenzen der Gegenwart" und war anschließend von 2017-2018 Forschungsgruppenleiter und wissenschaftlicher Koordinator am Viadrina Center B/ORDERS IN MOTION. Seit 2018 ist er Professor für Kommunikation in Institutionen und Organisationen an der Universität Duisburg-Essen. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind Arbeits- und Organisationsforschung, Kultursoziologie, Praxistheorie und Mikrosoziologie, Grenzforschung, Soziologie der Zeit, Mobilität und Ethnografie.
