The historian Maren LORENZ has written the first introductory book about "body history" in Germany. Based on a vast quantity of international and German scientific literature LORENZ discusses theoretical and political approaches and scientific topics represented in this field of research. Reprints of source material are also added to this survey. This book seems to be more useful for readers who are already involved in the field of body history (LORENZ's perspective appears however limited if judging from the feminist view. It is probably less suitable as an "introduction": theoretical positions are not presented in a way that can be easily understood leaving the novice readers such as students possibly even more confused.
