Alfredo Gaitán, University of Luton

Alfredo GAITAN was born in Bogotá, Colombia, in 1960. He studied psychology at the Universidad Javeriana between 1978 and 1982. He then went to the United Kingdom and obtained his PhD from the University of Southampton in 1989. His doctoral thesis was entitled "Understanding aggression through discourse: episodes, accounts and narratives". After working for six years in Colombia, he returned to Britain where he now lectures in social psychology, cultural psychology and qualitative research methods. Research interests: the social construction of adolescence, transitions to higher education, narratives and identity.
