Until recently, mathematics was seldom a topic of interest in cognitive science. However, cognitive linguists no longer follow the CHOMSKYian dogmatism and have adapted the view founded by George LAKOFF that human experience is basically embodied. Thus, embodied cognitive schemata should be able to create a fundament in or for mathematics—LAKOFFs/NUNEZ' work serves as a test for this supposition.
